  • Where are you located?
    FWO is located in the Tallywood Shopping Center off Raeford Road in Fayetteville, NC. Raeford Road runs (east to west) all the way from downtown Fayetteville to Raeford, North Carolina, 10-15 miles away. It is convenient to All American Freeway, which runs all the way from Owen Drive, past the hospital and the shopping mall, north to Fort Bragg, approximately 15 mile of road. It is also convenient to downtown and the Martin Luther King Freeway.

  • What comes with my membership?
    Full reign of the facility during operating hours, aerobic classes, water aerobics, PACE circuit, sauna, steam room, pool and whirlpool use, orientation, and child care. Free full equipment orientation is included with all memberships. Trial memberships are available for friends and family that you refer. Discounted rates to add the Ultimate Spa and/or VIP Fitness. Discounted membership for my spouse at VIP Fitness. Transfer of my membership, should you move, to an IPFA affiliate. Visitation while you may be away from home to an IPFA and/or IHRSA Club.

  • Who on your staff helps me get results?
    Our Certified Personal Trainers have the knowledge to help you make positive lifestyle changes and reach long-term goals. Our staff of aerobic instructors is also available to teach the class and to answer questions after class. Therapists, massage and facial are available at the nearby Ultimate Spa. Questions on drinks, tanning and clothing available at the front desk.

  • What services cost extra?
    Personal training is extra, as well as any items from the juice bar, tanning and clothing. Child care is free for the first 2 hours, $1 per hour or fraction of an hour thereafter. $1 per hour for childcare on the weekends, regardless of how many children you have.

  • Do you have any nutritional and weight loss programs?
    Both nutrition and weight loss programs are included with a personal training program.

  • Do you have a Juice Bar for energy drinks?
    Yes. A juice bar is available and additional supplements may be added to smoothies if desired. Smoothies come in one's choice of real fruit. Additives to smoothies are: protein, immune blend, fat burner, fiber, and multi-vitamin. We also have coffee, tea, chai, energy drinks, naturally flavored water - both carbonated and non-carbonated, bottled water - both carbonated and regular, mocha, latte, red bull.

  • How are your personal training programs tied to my results?
    Personal trainers are responsible for helping you produce the results you want! Our programs include so much more than just a workout. Included in the cost of your program is a personalized workout, re-evaluations every few weeks, nutritional guidance and most importantly, motivation! This is well worth the cost.

  • What about the group fitness classes? How do they help me get results faster?
    The benefit to group fitness classes is the flexibility, knowledgeable and certified instructors, and well as a different kind of workout. In other words, you can push yourself in these classes, as hard or as little as you want; and aerobics takes you off the gym floor and provides you with a change of pace, to keep you from getting bored and your body constantly re-adapting. Cardiovascular or heart strengthing, is a benefit to group fitness. Also, we have Yoga for flexibility, Pilates for core training and great abdominals, Body Pump for overall toning, Step for cardio and great legs, as well as many variations for improving health, toning, weight loss, and shaping.

  • What programs produce the best results to lose weight?
    A combination of aerobic classes, personal training and PACE circuit. Cardiovascular and weight training should do the trick...in addition to a healthy eating habit. We want to stoke up the metabolism, burn fat, learn to eat correctly, and create lean muscle that will burn calories, even while resting.

  • To tone up?
    A personal training program would be able to bring the most dramatic results. Group fitness such as Pilates and Body Pump and PACE training will also help with tone, shape and redefine the body's shape.

  • Will someone stop me if I am doing something wrong?
    Yes. A polite suggestion may be made regarding a more efficient way to complete the exercise; we want to educate our members on proper technique so we reduce the risk of injury, and get the results we are striving for.

  • What do you do to track and monitor my results?
    When you are working hand in hand with a personal trainer, your results will be monitored according to re-evaluations performed every few weeks.

  • What about personal training options and packages?
    Programs are set standard on a 6 week time period. You get to chose how often a week you would like to meet with your trainer. One, two and three times a week for 6 weeks are available packages. OR the trainer and member may select training sessions (6, 12, or 18) and then design training times.

  • Who are the group fitness instructors?
    Stephanie Kennedy, Deanna Jones, Doretha Maxwell, Tiffany Sessoms, Tracy Rosario, Hadassah Moore, LaTonya Proctor, Shellye Thompson, Kim Quesenberry, Melanie Applegate, Alicia Vega, Kristi Herbst, and Judy McNeill All group fitness instructors are nationally certified plus specialty certifications (i.e. Pilates, water, kickboxing, etc.)

  • What kinds/brands of equipment is it?
    FWO has a wide range of equipment; Our strength equipment consists of brands such as Camstar, Paramont Universal, Body Masters and Strive. The facility contains cardio equipment such as Reebok Skywalker, Precor Stretch trainers and Ellipticals, Star Trac treadmills and stationary bikes, Schwinn bikes, Climb Max Steppers and reumbent bike by Sci- Fit.

  • Do you have dedicated space for classes?
    Yes, there is a large carpeted fitness floor over a suspended wood floor for aerobic and group classes.

  • What group fitness classes do you offer?
    Body Pump, Pilates, Master Blast (high impact), Kickboxing, PACE, Tone and Firming, Punch and Groove (low impact), Ultimate Fatburner, Step, Yoga, Ab Attack, and a variety of water aerobics classes. Class of the month varies and is on Saturday mornings.

  • How many sessions a week?
    A total of 50 aerobics session are offered throughout a week.

  • What is your cleaning schedule and who does it?
    The gym is cleaned daily, once before the facility opens, and again in the late afternoon. Our staff includes individuals who were hired specifically for this position. Membership specialists also tour the facility hourly for touchups, supplies and club or client needs.

  • Who do I talk to with questions?
    General questions such as billing, will be directed to the accounting office. Questions about class times, etc may be directed towards the front desk associate. Questions on equipment, workout or exercise related issues may be directed towards any of the fitness staff. Any concerns or questions that cannot be met at that time will be left for the correct manager.

  • How do I sign up for classes?
    No need to sign up, just attend whichever classes interests you.

  • Where do I find out about classes?
    A schedule of classes is available at the front desk. Also, a dry erase board is near the aerobic floor listing the instructor for each class for the week. We are also adding a full up-to date class schedule to our website for you to check prior to arriving.

  • Who helps me select the right trainer?
    The fitness manager or personal training salesperson can help you select a PT; however, any of the certified personal trainers may be able to assess and direct you to one.

  • Do you have any specialized plans for workouts for people with different goals?
    Absolutely. All personal training programs are individualized, specialized to meet any persons goals based on: age, gender, testing, physical and medical limitations, exercise history, and, of course, goals.

  • Where can I learn about and nutrition and fitness?
    Your certified fitness staff will teach you about fitness and nutrition for your needs.

  • What training do I get as a new member?
    You will have the option to go thru a full equipment orientation and learn how to use everything in our facility.

  • What is available after my first consultation?
    All of our different personal training packages are available for purchase after your orientation.

  • What types of training plans do you offer?
    Plans are offered based on price; times per week on a six week program, or as chosen by the member and her trainer.

  • What times are trainers available?
    Trainers are available from when the facility opens till it closes. (Morning to night)

  • What are your hours?
    Monday thru Friday 5:30am-9pm, Saturday 8am-4pm and Sunday 2pm-5pm.

  • What times are classes?
    Classes begin as early as 9:15am and run as late as 7:30 pm on weekdays; weekend class hours range from 9:00am till 3pm.

  • What do you carry in your Pro Shop?
    There is no designated 'pro shop'; however tanning supplies, swimming gear, workout clothing and other miscellaneous items will be available for purchase at the front desk, as well as juice bar items.

  • Where do I go with questions?
    Front desk staff is always available and they may be able to direct your question to the appropriate person or department, leaving a note if the person needed is not readily available.

  • Are you near any local shopping?
    FWO is located in Tallywood Shopping Center. Tallywood is really a mix of merchants. However, it is next door to Belk Department store. Local grocery store, Harris Teeter is 2 blocks away.

  • How is the parking situation?
    The shopping center is very large with plenty of parking.

  • Are you near any public transportation?
    Yes, bus stop at the front of the shopping center, but most people use private transportation. Public transportation is not a very common means of transportation here.

  • Anything for students or seniors?
    Students, seniors, and corporate members receive a $5/mo discount on monthly dues. We also have a summer program for college students and teachers.
